At NxtGen Advisory and Equitable Advisors, community involvement is a cornerstone of who we are. Every day we help clients build stronger financial futures…but earlier this month, we had the privilege of helping them build a stronger community. Our team recently spent time volunteering at United Against Poverty’s Orlando campus. It was an experience that reminded us of the power of service, teamwork and compassion.
United Against Poverty (UAP) is a nonprofit organization dedicated to empowering families and individuals to lift themselves to sustainable economic self-sufficiency. Their work is shaped by the understanding that, together, we can create lasting change to combat life’s most difficult challenges.
During our visit we assisted in cleaning, organizing and stocking the Member Share grocery area. The Member Share Grocery is a dignified food and household assistance program where income-qualified members can personally select the food and household items their family needs. Access to this program, for families and individuals who fall at or below 200% of the federal poverty level, allows them to save much of their household food budget, inspiring them with a hand UP, not a handout.
